Super Saw Palmetto

Published scientific literature, along with ten years of experience at the Life Extension Foundation, shows that saw palmetto extract by itself is effective in alleviating symptoms of benign prosate disease in most men. However, newly published studies reveal evidence that men over age fifty should add nettle root extract to the new saw palmetto extract for prevention purposes. As men age, their ratio of estrogen to testosterone increases, thus making it important to inhibit the effects of estrogens, sex hormone binding globulin and dihydrotestosterone. While saw palmetto protects against prostate enlargement caused by dihydrotestosterone, nettle root is required to inhibit the proliferation of prostate cells in response to estrogen and sex hormone binding globulin. Since we now have a molecular understanding of how nettle functions in the body, it would appear that most men could both prevent and effectively treat benign prostate hyperplasia by taking Super Saw Palmetto/Nettle Root. Super Saw Palmetto/Nettle Root contains a new methanolic nettle root extract which is more effective than the ethanolic extract.
Directions: As a dietary supplement take one softgel capsule in the morning and one softgel capsule in the evening, or as recommended by your health practitioner.
Each two softgels contain:
Saw palmetto berry (serenoa repens) supercritical CO2 extract - 320 mg (85 -95% free fatty acids/sterols)
Nettle extract (urticca dioica) (20% aqueous alcohol extract) - 240 mg
Rosemary extract -800 mcg in a base of pumpkin seed oil.
The supercriticial CO2 extract in Super Saw Palmetto/Nettle Root Formula has been standardized and concentrated to ensure the highest quality, consistency and biological activity.

Serraflazyme

Published studies have validated the efficacy of Serraflazyme as an anti-inflammatory. There is anecdotal evidence concerning an antiatherosclerotic benefit, however no published studies have yet been conducted to confirm this.

Selenium

As an essential cofactor of glutathione peroxydase, selenium is an important antioxidant. It is also involved with iodine metabolism, pancreatic funtion, DNA repair, immunity and the detoxification of heavy metals. Studies have shown that selenium can help prevent some cancers and cataracts.

Taurine

Taurine is a conditionally essential amino acid produced from cysteine by the body and found abundantly in the body, particularly throughout the exitable tissues of the central nervous system, where it is thought to have a regulating influence. However, taurine is deficient in many diets and may not be sufficiently produced by the body in certain disease states.

Trimethylglycine

Trimethylglycine (TMG) may be one of the most important nutrients to prevent heart disease, stroke, liver disease and to slow aging. The name "trimethylglycine" signifies that it has three methyl groups attached to each molecule of glycine. In the body, TMG donates one of its mehtyl groups to cellular DNA, which may help protect DNA against damage and its consequences, cancer and premature aging.

Tyrosine

L-phenylalanine is an essential amino acid which can be converted to L-tyrosine by a complex biochemical process which takes place in the liver. L-tyrosine can be converted by neurons in the brain to dopamine and norepinephrine (noradrenaline), hormones which are depleted by stress, overwork and certain drugs. By replenishing norepinephrine in the brain, mental energy levels are enhanced, and a feeling of satiety often occurs.

Vinpocetine

Vinpocetine is an extract from periwinkle, used to enhance memory and mental function. Vinpocetine:
  1. Is effective when taken orally.
  2. Selectively improves blood supply to the brain.
  3. Does not cause slowed heart rate or low blood pressure.
  4. Increases oxygen use by the brain.
  5. Increases the tolerance of the brain to lack of oxygen.
  6. Increases vasodilation due to lack of oxygen.
  7. Enhances use of glucose by brain cells.
  8. Increases ATP levels in the brain.
  9. Stops blood from becoming sticky.
  10. Raises the amount of serotonin which has an activating effect on the brain.
  11. Is nontoxic even in doses several times higher than those used normally.
  12. Is not harmful to the central nervous system.
Supplement Facts
Serving size 2 tablets
Servings per container 50
Amount per Serving
Vinpocetine 10 mg
Other ingredients: dicalcium phosphate, cellulose, stearic acid, magnesium stearate.
Directions
Take two tablets three times a day for month. Then take one tablet three times a day thereafter. Tablets can be taken with or without meals. Side effects are only experienced by a small number of people. Most of them are mild and disappear after the drug has been taken for a while. Side effects are much more common with the injectable form of the drug. A brief drop in blood pressure or faster heart rate may occur in some people. So far vinpocetine has not been found to interact with other drugs, so it can be taken in combination with other medicines. In a one year toxicity study, no ill effects were seen. Studies carried out to find out whether vinpocetine could cause cancer revealed that it was completely safe. No change in male or female fertility was seen. No teratogenic (ability to cause defects in the unborn child) effects were seen. Vinpocetine cannot cause mutation or damage normal cells.

Vitamin C

Ascorbic Acid, or vitamin C, is a white, crystalline water-soluble substance found in citrus fruits and green vegetables. Vitamin C may help to:
  • Lower cholesterol
  • Prevent heart disease and some forms of cancer
  • Improve immune function
  • Maintain healthy skin and blood vessels
  • Accelerate healing
  • Reduce allergic reactions
Vitamin C also comes in at least two other forms, chemically bonded to minerals as ascorbates, and to the fat palmitic acid, as ascorbyl palmitate which is a fat soluble version of vitamin C. Both of these forms are non-acidic.
